Our thoughts are with all our members, supporters and wider stakeholder community during these difficult and uncertain times.
The BGA is in close daily contact with its friends at the Countryside Alliance, BASC and other bodies trying to understand from Defra and Ministers what the impact and support for rural businesses such as shoots, game farms and processors might be. It seems to be forever changing but you can look at the Government advice here.
Many are working in the background, with large egg and chick suppliers sending stock into the UK earlier than usual in case any trade restrictions are imposed and to ensure we can cope in the short term. Yes, there is uncertainty from guns around paying deposits but a pro-active and transparent approach between shoots and guns should mean that its business as usual. And its important that guns support shoots during these tricky times given how important their deposits are for cash flow at this time of year. The season is a long way off and we must remain positive and look forward to it. It is all very beatable and we should be reassured by China’s announcement today that there is no new cases of Covid-19 in the domestic population, a great step forward.
BGA audits are still going ahead, where shoots are happy for them to do so, and the BGA team is on hand to answer any questions you may have so please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
We kindly ask, anyone planning on sending any post to refrain from doing so, and where possible communicate electronically due to not being in the office.
All the best,
