BGA Brand Partner Hoddy's tell us a bit more about their fantastic new game dog food.

Please could you tell us some of the history of Hoddy’s?

Hoddy’s is a nutritious, delicious and sustainable dog food made with British pheasant.

Founded in 2019, the idea was simple – create a 100% natural dog food using wild game, which might otherwise go to waste.

The result is a nutritionally balanced complete adult dog food for working & active dogs.

 

 

 

By being a brand partner, you are showing your support for the BGA’s efforts. Why do you feel the BGA Assurance Scheme is important to the future of the shooting industry?

As it provides full traceability of products under it’s brand. Everyone wants to know where their food is coming from these days, even the food they feed their pets. And rightly so. By providing traceability and maintaining high standards from hatching through to processing it gives assurance that british game is a high quality product that can be enjoyed by all.

 

Why was it important for your brand to support the BGA?

We all want to end the waste of game. With the BGA’s efforts to increase demand and eventually the value of game, it will only help to ensure the survival of shooting through sustainability and viability.

 

What are the biggest changes you have seen in the shooting industry over the last 5 years?

Effort. There has been a marked effort by all to ensure that game is consumed. Either by themselves or through education and sharing with friends, work colleagues or even neighbours. The more game we can get into people hands and belly’s the better. It will only help to make people more receptive to trying game and increase their appetite for it longer term.

 

Why do you feel the discount is a benefit to BGA members?

We really want people to try the product, all our trials have shown great appetite from even the most particular of eaters for Hoddy’s. Converting many from established brand names and even raw products. Even more importantly we have seen owners report how well their dogs look and behave on the product. So we wanted to give BGA members a saving to encourage them to try.

It can be a daunting prospect to change your dog’s food but rest assured we have worked for 2 years with a pet food nutritionist to perfect our recipe.

 

Can you tell us a little bit about your key plans, events, and/or any new products for 2021?

As our launch year, we will be spreading the message to the industry as we really hope they will get behind this initiative, not just because it’s the first sustainable dog food using pheasant as the primary ingredient but also because it is proven to be a nutritious and complete biscuit.
