It has been a really exciting 10 months getting the BGA to where we are today. Starting as a vision and now having 330 shoots on board, 80% of the country’s processors, a competent and professional team, a hugely experienced board, a fully functioning assurance scheme with trained assessors, some of the countries largest wholesalers who’ve never stocked game now doing so and other leading stores such as Selfridges endorsing our assurance scheme, and a consumer-facing campaign (Eat Wild) with our Chef Ambassador Nigel Haworth being run by our specialist food marketing agency plus everything else that goes with setting up a business.
We have something here and these solid foundations are going to ensure we deliver on our objectives. It can’t and won’t happen overnight but with the continued support of the shooting community the British Game Alliance can return a value to game and bring credible self-regulation to our beloved sport. As the only initiative with these two very clear objectives, we must succeed if we are to have a sustainable future for shooting.
We have big aspirations for next year and believe our efforts laying the groundwork will pay off in the seasons to come. It is easy to pick it apart from the outside or expect others to take on the burden but as I have mentioned many times before, this affects us all, so I would urge you to get involved and either sign your shoot up or put pressure on those who haven’t yet joined. This is a movement and it needs your help.
