British Game Alliance: March 2019

The BGA continues to gather momentum and support from all sides of the shooting community building a stronger and more robust foundation for the future.

The BGA is only as strong as its membership and with a young, dynamic team we are eager to gain feedback on all sides of the business to ensure we keep on the right track. To that effect, we have been surveying our members feedback on both the BGA as a whole and more specifically the audit process. The results of that are shown below with what we plan to do going forward.

Having audited over 100 shoots, the scheme and our assessors continue to grow in knowledge, understanding, and practicality, as you will see the feedback has been hugely positive but we note it needs continued development. The audits are here to help shoots, where needed, raise their standards through practical suggestions and to implement a bench mark of best practice across the board. We all need to embrace self-regulation as it is vital for a sustainable future, this message isn’t just being championed by the BGA and other shooting organisations but also very loudly by our supporters in Westminster. The BGA’s verdict on the Cotesbatch incident can be seen below. This decision was made by Acoura and the Advisory Committee ensuring a non-bias stance.

Our End of Season Summary Packs detailing the progress to date and plans for the future have been greatly received by our members in hard copy and for those who wish to view it online they can do so here and below. We are proud of our achievements to date yet don’t underestimate the challenges that still lie ahead. With that said, our Sales team has been extremely busy with fantastic new stockists signing up. A full up to date Sales report will be issued in April’s newsletter to show what has been achieved which we are very excited to share with you. We are out in Hong Kong next week meeting major buyers and distributors across the Far East, working closely with the Department for International Trade. You will also note in our End of Year Summary the BGA plans to turn into a Mutual, owned and run by our members, meaning governance right to the top.

Approaching 500 shoots in less than a year of trading, exceeded many people’s expectations and with that figure representing roughly 30% of the game market we are in a very strong position with the retailers and other buyers, in bringing an assured product to market. It is critical that momentum continues and we hope all those who believe and support in our objectives will be Ambassadors in their own right and get their neighbours and friends to join.

The  BGA is offering is members a 20% discount on their renewal for successful referrals. If you would like to make introductions to your shoot contacts and take advantage of this offer then please email info@britishgamealliance.co.uk.

The BGA has had a fantastic first year and can only thank our members for their support, as without that none of it would be possible, we believe the year ahead will deliver on many of our objectives with many tangible new markets being opened for game.

If you wish to join the movement and become a proud member, then please join us here.

Best wishes,

Tom
